Boat captains to fishermen to beach goers are fans of Costa Del Mar sunglasses. Their adventure-ready shades are made for open water and bright conditions. The brand has been a huge supporter of healthy oceans. Their new Untangled collection has sustainable frames made from 97-100% recycled fishing nets. I love the partnership between Costa Del Mar and Bureo NetPlus to keep discarded fishing nets and gear from polluting the oceans and harming marine life. Every year 640,000 tons of discarded fishing material ends up in waterways.
I tested a pair of the Caleta during my trip the Roatan to ring in 2022. When I opened my box of Caleta shades ($206), I immediately loved the plum frames and gray lens combination. Caleta is named after small fishing villages near San Rafael Laguna National Park in Chile. I also noticed they are super lightweight. They come with a soft case too. The Caleta frames are made from 97% recycled fishing nets.

I wore these sunglasses every day in Roatan. The polarized lens were great out on the water for snorkeling adventures and for spotting fish on docks. From power walks on the beach to relaxing in the shallow water or a hammock, they were perfect for my island vacation. Plus, the color combo is stylish and different.

The Untangled collection is a little pricey, but eye protection on the water is worth it, especially when the sunglasses help improve our oceans. I also got the Costa Clarity Kit ($11) with a micro-fiber cleaning cloth, anti-reflective lens cleaner, and carrying case. I got a loop retainer ($10) so I don’t loose my sunglasses while on a boat. I also got a Costa Topo C-Mask ($15). The mask can be worn multi-ways from a neck gaiter to headband and has 30 UPF sun protection rating.
I can’t wait to sport my Caleta sunglasses on my next water or beach vacation….or maybe Caleta Tortel, Chile because its now on my travel wish list!
