During a great dinner in Durango, Colorado, I asked our server, who was well versed in Durango’s culinary scene, where to go for breakfast. Kevin immediately said Hermosa Creek Grill. He said the Greek Omelet is his favorite.
On a beautiful morning we headed up the road to Hermosa Creek. It’s about halfway between Durango and Purgatory Ski Resort.
It’s just a small cafe right next to a storage facility so it doesn’t look like much, but the food does the talking here.
It was a perfect morning to dine out on the patio and breathe in the fresh mountain air.
I went for the Veggie Benedict with poached eggs on an English muffin with sliced tomatoes and avocado. The tomatoes are lightly grilled. It’s usually topped with our house-made Hollandaise Sauce, but I’m not a huge sauce fan so I got it on the side. To top it off, it’s sprinkled with feta cheese. It was fabulous!
It’s served with green chile cheese grits. This Southern girl of course gobbled those up!
