When work takes you on the road, a hotel that’s easy, comfortable, and in a great location makes all the difference. During my recent trip to speak at the Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show, I spent one night at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach. It’s a waterfront property perfectly positioned next to the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center.
If you’re attending a conference or event there, the location alone is hard to beat. The convention center is just a short walk away, meaning no rideshare scramble or morning traffic stress before a presentation.

A Spacious, Comfortable Room with Room to Unwind
I stayed in Room 1421 at Hyatt Regency Long Beach. For a city hotel, it’s notably spacious. The layout works especially well for travelers balancing work and relaxation.
The room features a comfortable king bed, a large desk workspace, and a separate seating area with a small sofa, modern lounge chair, and round coffee table. That extra space made it easy to stretch out after a long day travel day and to prep for speaking at the conference.
Other practical details stood out too:
- A long desk and media console with a large TV
- In-room coffee setup and mini fridge
- A clean, modern bathroom with a large illuminated mirror and walk-in shower
- Plenty of open floor space so luggage isn’t constantly in your way
It’s a clean, modern design that’s simple, functional, and comfortable for both business travelers and leisure visitors.
Sunrise Views Over the Harbor
One unexpected highlight of the stay was the view from the room. Early risers are rewarded here.
At sunrise, the light spills across the harbor and marina outside, painting the water in warm gold tones. Watching the sun climb over the boats and waterfront is a quiet moment before the city wakes up.

A Perfect Morning Walk Along the Waterfront
Before speaking in the afternoon, I took advantage of Long Beach’s walkable waterfront for a beautiful three-mile morning walk.
From the hotel, I strolled to:
- Shoreline Village – a colorful waterfront spot with shops, restaurants, and harbor views
- Long Beach Shoreline Marina – walk along the docks admiring the boats and look out toward Island Grissom
- Alamitos Beach – a wide stretch of sand perfect for watching the waves roll in
The morning was breezy and beautiful. It was exactly the kind of start that reminds you why coastal conference destinations are so appealing.
Why This Hotel Works Well for Convention Travelers
For anyone attending an event at the convention center, the Hyatt Regency Long Beach is one of the most convenient places to stay.
Highlights include:
- Walkable location to the convention center
- Spacious, comfortable rooms with work space
- Harbor and marina views
- Easy access to Long Beach’s waterfront paths, shops, and restaurants
For my quick work trip to the Travel & Adventure Show, it was the kind of stay every traveler hopes for in the Los Angeles area. A stay that’s easy, comfortable, and with just enough time to enjoy a sunrise and a walk along the Pacific.
