I first tested it during a two-night getaway to Hotel Colorado in Glenwood Springs. It easily held sweaters and everything else I needed without feeling bulky.

Spacious and Organized
One of the standout features of this carry-on is its expandable design. The standard capacity is 40 liters, but an expansion panel increases it to 55 liters. Interior and exterior compression straps help contain bulky clothing.
Despite its compact size, the bag offers a surprisingly spacious interior with multiple compartments to keep your items organized. Zippered mesh pockets organize smaller items, while an interior sleeve holds a laptop or tablet. I typically pair the suitcase with Eagle Creek packing cubes for even better organization.
The bag measures 21.75 by 14 by 9 inches before expansion, meeting many airline carry-on limits. Four cinch straps help you compress the bag, plus there are straps inside for added compression.
Water Resistant and Sustainable
The exterior is made with 100% recycled, water-resistant polyester. It is also abrasion-resistant and made without the intentional use of PFAS.

It also weighs 7 pounds, 8 ounces before you pack it. Factor that into the overall carry-on weight, especially for international airlines with strict carry-on weight limits.
Is the Gear Warrior XE Worth It?
The Eagle Creek Gear Warrior XE is a solid choice for travelers who prioritize durability, organization and rugged wheels. It works especially well for one- to three-night trips, although efficient packers could use it for longer adventures.
