The fountains are famous, but the Bellagio in Las Vegas offers far more than its signature water show. The Italian-inspired resort combines elegant rooms, elaborate gardens, fine art and some of the best dining on the Las Vegas Strip.
During my three-night stay, I discovered beauty around almost every corner. Bellagio feels grand without losing the romance that makes it a Las Vegas classic.

Staying at Bellagio in Las Vegas
Walking through the marble entrance felt like arriving at an enormous Italian villa. The Tuscan-inspired architecture, airy public spaces and colorful artwork set Bellagio apart from many casino resorts.
My spacious room had a seating area, desk and large bathroom with a soaking tub.
Since my stay, Bellagio has since remodeled its rooms and suites. Current accommodations range from 510-square-foot Premier Rooms to sprawling multi-bedroom suites. Fountain View Rooms overlook the resort’s famous lake.
Automatic curtains revealed a view of the mountains west of Las Vegas. At sunrise, alpenglow paints the red rocks in warm shades of pink and orange.
Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens
My favorite place in the resort is the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.
The 14,000-square-foot space changes with the seasons. Displays celebrate spring, summer, fall, winter and Lunar New Year with flowers, sculptures, sounds and whimsical details.
The Conservatory is free to visit. Displays close briefly between seasonal installations, so check the current schedule before going.
During my fall stay, the theme was “Proud as a Peacock.” Giant peacocks displayed floral feathers in vivid shades of teal, orange, yellow and blue. Nearby, playful scarecrows posed on pumpkins filled with fresh-cut flowers.
I found something new every time I walked through.
Make sure to look up. The glass ceiling rises above an ornate framework of verdigris, the green patina that forms on copper. It adds another beautiful layer to the garden.
Fascinating Facts in the Floral Displays
My favorite in the display was two giant peacocks, and learning their ties to mythology. From the teal of their necks to the oranges, yellows, and blues on their tail features, all made from flowers. In myths, legends and folklore, the peacock has symbolized royalty, guidance, protection, awakening and integrity.
In Greek mythology, the peacock is identified with Hera (Juno). Argus was her trusted watchman. When he was killed she took the “eyes of Argus” and placed them on the peacock, her favorite bird. Peacock’s features are said to symbolize the eyes of the stars and the vault of heaven.
See the Fountains of Bellagio
Watching the Fountains of Bellagio is a must, even if you have seen them before.
More than 1,000 fountains dance across the lake to classical music, Broadway hits and popular songs. Water can soar as high as 460 feet.
Daytime performances are beautiful, but the nighttime shows are spectacular. Lights shimmer across the water as the fountains move with the music.
Best of all, the show is free.
Performances generally run every 30 minutes during the afternoon and early evening. They increase to every 15 minutes from 8 p.m. until midnight. Weekend shows begin earlier, although weather can affect the schedule.
For another perspective, reserve a table at a fountain-side restaurant. Current options include Spago, LAGO, PRIME Steakhouse and The Mayfair Supper Club.
Dining at Bellagio
Bellagio’s restaurant lineup has changed since my original stay. Current choices range from casual cafés to special-occasion dining.
Sadelle’s serves breakfast and lunch near the Conservatory. Spago, LAGO and PRIME pair dinner with fountain views. Picasso and Le Cirque remain longtime fine-dining favorites.
For coffee or something sweet, Bellagio Patisserie offers pastries, chocolates and light bites. It is an easy place to linger over an almond latte, something I happily did during my stay.

Enjoy the Art at Bellagio
Art is woven throughout the Bellagio.
The lobby’s colorful glass sculpture, “Fiori di Como,” spreads across the ceiling like an enormous bouquet. Dale Chihuly created the installation with thousands of handblown glass blossoms.
The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art hosts rotating exhibitions featuring renowned artists and collections. Admission and exhibition dates vary.
Even the hallways, restaurants and gardens feel carefully composed. This is one resort where slowing down to admire the details is part of the experience.
Is Bellagio Worth Visiting?
Bellagio remains one of the most beautiful resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. Its fountains and Conservatory are worthwhile even if you stay elsewhere.
For an overnight visit, the spacious rooms, central location, and polished atmosphere make it a classic luxury choice. Bellagio offers plenty of Vegas sparkle, but it also has quieter moments filled with flowers, art and mountain views.
That combination is what makes the Bellagio special.
