From Television Meteorologist to Travel Journalist

Jennifer’s career began in television in 1994.  After stints in Myrtle Beach and Knoxville, Jennifer was named chief meteorologist for KMOL (now WOAI) in San Antonio, becoming one of the first female chief meteorologists for a local station in the United States.  She has over three decades of experience delivering on-air weather reports, environmental coverage, and travel features in major TV markets in including Denver and nationally as a frequent contributor on The Weather Channel.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has covered hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, wildfires, and climate stories, giving her an expert perspective on how weather shapes travel and outdoor experiences.

Her ability to seamlessly blend weather expertise with travel storytelling led her to become a highly sought-after freelance travel journalist. Today, Jennifer contributes to top publications, travel platforms, and television networks, specializing in outdoor adventure, solo travel, national parks, road trips, luxury travel, and sustainable tourism.

Beyond broadcast news and travel journalism, Jennifer is an accomplished television lifestyle show host, author, speaker, and content creator.  She currently hosts and produces MeTV’s Colorado & Me, a 26-minute interview style show. In 2016-2017, she helped successfully launch the daily lifestyle show Houston Life on KPRC in Houston as the show’s first host.

She co-authored 100 Things to Do in San Antonio Before You Die (3rd Edition Sept 2024). She frequently speaks on a variety of topics including solo travel tips, surviving grief through travel, breaking glass ceilings, pivoting to excel, disaster preparedness and travel, building your mental toughness, mountain mindset, and creating your own niche at travel conferences, sustainability summits, adventure expos, business conferences, and corporations.

She shares expert travel tips, destination guides, and weather insights through her blog, Swept Away Today, inspiring travelers to seek adventure, culture, and sustainability in their journeys.  She is also creator working with brands and destinations to create engaging content across multiple social media platforms.  Jennifer has over 290,000 followers on social media.
