Gear Review: Icebreaker Base Layer Set – Keeping Cozy in Yukon Wilderness

There’s remote, and then there’s Yukon remote. I spent a night at a cabin on Otter Lake, nestled in the wilderness with nothing but snow, silence, and towering pines. It was the perfect place to put the Icebreaker 100% merino wool base layer set to the test.  The 100% merino wool base pieces are the 125 zoneknit long sleeve crewe base layer thermal top and 125 zoneknit thermal base layer leggings.

The verdict? Warm, breathable, and so comfy. The fit is flattering without being tight, and the merino wool handled everything from snowshoeing on the frozen lake to sipping tea by the fire.  I even slept in them. No itch, no sweat, no stink.

Bonus: The berry color looks great in the snow. Stylish, functional, and worth every penny if you’re adventuring somewhere cold. Never thought I’d feel like a supermodel but this Icebreaker base layer set did just that as I stood on the steps of the cabin.

I’ve been a fan of the brand for awhile, but this Icebreaker base layer set makes me a superfan. I don’t normally run around in just base layers but this is too cute not to! For the socks I paired with the base layer set, check out review here.
