For my recent 3-week Africa trip—spanning 5 days in South Africa, 4 days on safari in Zimbabwe, and a 10-day safari in Namibia—I packed everything into one bag: the Eagle Creek No Matter What 110L rolling duffel. Mine is in the color safari brown, which felt like the perfect match for desert drives and dusty runways. I’ve been a fan of Eagle Creek’s packing cubes for ages and was excited to test rolling duffel built for adventure travel.
If you’re heading off the grid or hopping between cities, the No Matter What rolling duffel is built to keep up. It’s lightweight, durable, and made with sustainability in mind—ready for rugged travel and conscious adventurers.

What I Loved About This Duffel Bag
Color: Safari Brown was ideal for blending in on safari and still looked stylish in the city.
Lightweight: At under 4 lbs., the bag itself won’t eat into your weight allowance.
Durability + Sustainability: Made from abrasion-resistant Bi-Tech™ fabric, this bag handled rough terrain, baggage handlers, and sandy trails without a snag. Plus, Eagle Creek is known for their commitment to sustainable practices and using recycled materials.
Hardsided Base: The molded bottom around the wheels adds structure and protection.
Uncomplicated Design: Two zippers for the main compartment make packing and access easy. The external cinch straps help keep everything in place once packed.
Exterior Pocket: Spacious enough for quick grab extras like bug spray wipes or even sandals.
Packs into Stuff Sack: A major win for space-saving storage between trips.
Great Value: It’s hard to find a rolling duffel this durable and functional at this price point.

What I Didn’t Love
Too Big for 3 Weeks: At 110L, it was more space than I needed, especially on a trip involving multiple plane rides and destinations. But, it gave me room to bring home plenty of souvenirs, which I purchased near the end of my trip.
No Telescoping Handle: There’s only padded pull handles, which can make pulling a rolling duffel cumbersome to maneuver through airports. It’s fine for short distances like car to cart or curbside check baggage, but less ideal if you’re hauling it far.

Pro Pack Tip: Use Eagle Creek Packing Cubes
To keep the cavernous interior organized, I relied on Eagle Creek packing cubes and compression cubes. They were essential for staying organized through changing climates and activities—from safari boots to swimwear.

Final Verdict on the Eagle Creek No Matter What 110L
Eagle Creek No Matter What 110L rolling duffel is a fantastic choice for long-haul adventures, road trips, and rugged travel where you don’t need a structured suitcase. While it’s a bit oversized for me on a 3-week trip, it’s a workhorse that delivers on durability, space, and style. This bag would also be great hauling diving gear or other sports and adventure equipment while traveling.
